Exam pattern: what each syllabus post covers
- Pattern table – subjects, number of questions, marks, time and negative marking, taken from the notice.
- Topic-wise syllabus – the topics listed in the official syllabus, grouped by subject.
- Stages – which stages are qualifying and which count for the merit list.
- Official source – the website that publishes the notice and syllabus PDF.
Syllabus pdf 2026: using it well
Print the syllabus page of the notice and tick topics off as you finish them. Most recruitment exams test Class 10-level mathematics, reasoning, English or Hindi, and general awareness at the first stage; later stages add post-specific subjects, skill tests or descriptive papers. Match your preparation to the stage that decides the merit list – for many exams, the first stage is only for screening.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the official syllabus published?
Inside the recruitment notice or information bulletin, usually in an annexure. Each syllabus post links to the official website where the notice is published.
Does the exam pattern change every year?
Sometimes. Boards can change the number of questions, marks or stages in a new notice. Always confirm the pattern in the current year's notice.
Syllabus PDF 2026 kahan se download karein?
Download the recruitment notice from the official website and open the syllabus annexure. We do not host copies of official PDFs.
Which exams have negative marking?
Most objective recruitment exams do. For example, RRB NTPC deducts one-third of a mark and SSC CHSL Tier 1 deducts 0.50 marks per wrong answer. CTET has no negative marking.
Is the topic weightage official?
No. Boards publish the syllabus, not the weightage. Any weightage we mention is an estimate from previous papers and is labelled that way.
How should I start preparing?
Start with the official pattern, solve one previous paper to see where you stand, then cover the syllabus topic by topic with timed practice.
