ITI govt jobs: the main routes
An ITI certificate in a trade such as Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Machinist, Turner or Electronics Mechanic opens three kinds of government opportunity. Apprenticeships with Railway Recruitment Cells and PSUs give paid on-the-job training and the National Apprenticeship Certificate. Artisan and technician posts in PSUs such as BHEL ask for ITI plus NAC in the same trade. Railway posts such as Assistant Loco Pilot, Technician and Group D accept ITI holders.
ITI vacancies open now
- RRC NWR Act Apprentice 2026 – 2,008 slots across the Ajmer, Bikaner, Jaipur and Jodhpur units; 10th with 50% plus ITI; last date 6 November 2026; merit-based, no written exam.
- BHEL Artisan Grade IV – 660 posts for ITI + NAC holders in seven trades; the detailed notice and dates are awaited.
Eligibility and documents
- Class 10 marksheet and certificate (many notices set a minimum percentage, such as 50% for RRC apprenticeships).
- ITI marksheet and NCVT/SCVT certificate in the notified trade; NAC where asked.
- Category, PwBD and domicile certificates if claimed, and a medical fitness certificate at joining.
How merit lists work for apprenticeships
RRC apprenticeship merit lists usually take the simple average of the percentage marks in Class 10 and in ITI. Candidates are shortlisted trade-wise and unit-wise, and then called for document verification. Choose your unit and trade carefully, because most portals do not allow changes after submission.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which ITI govt jobs are open now?
The Live ITI Govt Jobs table lists them – for example the RRC North Western Railway Act Apprentice engagement (2,008 slots, last date 6 November 2026).
ITI ke baad railway me kaise jayein?
Apply for RRC apprenticeships after ITI, then for RRB ALP, Technician and Group D posts. Apprentices who complete training also get a National Apprenticeship Certificate, which many PSU posts ask for.
What is the difference between ITI and NAC?
The ITI certificate comes from your training institute. The National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) is awarded after completing an apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act. BHEL Artisan posts ask for both in the same trade.
Is there a written exam for railway apprenticeships?
Usually not. RRC apprenticeships select on a merit list made from the average of 10th and ITI marks.
Is an apprenticeship a permanent job?
No. It is paid training for a fixed period. It improves your chances for permanent technician and artisan posts.
What is the age limit for ITI apprenticeships?
The RRC NWR 2026 notice allows 15 to 24 years as on 6 November 2026, with relaxation for reserved categories.
